Following recent spy photos in standard and Brabus variants, smart has released images of the fortwo facelift II. Ironically, this facelift is a bit anti-climatic if you're a smart fan, as smart has already shown this design on the 2012 fortwo electric drive. The styling is a bit more sporty with a redesigned front bumper fascia, hood emblem moved to the mesh grille, rear bumper fascia with a diffuser look and centrally mounted dual exhaust pipes. In the front bumper, fog lamps or LED DRLs are available depending on trim package. Equipment lines include the same Pure, Pulse, Passion, Brabus and Brabus Xclusive. The electrically driven for-us builds on the smart forspeed and smart forvision concepts presented in 2011 and sets to facetiously challenge the American perception of "bigger is better". Looking a little deeper, the tongue-in-cheek concept also challenges the cowboy persona of the mega-pickups and questions how many pickup truck owners in America actually use their vehicles for heavy duty carrying use? smart CEO Dr. Annette Winkler says "We at smart love pick-ups - if they are small on the outside, large on the inside, very safe and extremely comfortable. With the smart for-us a petrol station is no longer required!" The tiny two-seater pickup measures 3547/1506/1701mm (L,W,H). It features an electrically powered tailboard that opens and retracts inwards to provide a 35-inch (900mm) cargo area that can hold and recharge two smart ebikes with a built in docking station. The For-Us is driven by a 55 kW (75 hp) magneto-electric motor, the same one used in the smart fortwo electric drive, and produces 130 Nm (96 lb-ft) of torque.
